  4. Eradication of Worries.

  5. Who am I - Realization of the Self.

These practices will make a man to understand the value of his own existence.

Analysis of thought :

Thoughts and action are inter-linked and one follows the other in an unbroken chain. If we analyze our thoughts, we will understand the causes that motivate them. A man’s character is nothing but the character and qualities of his mind. The mind is the only instrument available to us for understanding itself and for observing its activities.

Observation of the mind is possible only when the mind turns inward and proceeds towards its source. The process through which the mind traces its own source is called a perceptive meditation. When we thus observe the mind and its functioning, we discover that every action of our accepting those motivated by instinct is invariably preceded by a thought.

Moralization of Desire

All living beings have three kinds of sensation – those arising from hunger, variations in climatic conditions and excretory forces. Man is not exempt from this Law of Nature. The process of Moralization of Desire is a must for all people who want to lead a better, prosperous, healthy and peaceful life. Whenever a desire arises in one’s mind, the following questions should be posed:

  1. What is the root of the thought (Desire)?

  2. Is this desire to the good?

  3. Can I not live and be content without this enjoyment of desired thing?

  4. What exactly will be result to me if I achieve the desired thing or enjoyment?

  5. If it is clear that I can live without such enjoyment or thing, why should I unnecessarily create an involvement?

Neutralization of Anger

When does anger arise in man? When he experiences a need, he looks for some commodity or facility to balance the need. If there is any obstruction to his effort, he tries to remove it with his force. If the obstruction stands firm to ordinary force, then he uses more force.

Unmindful of the consequences of his action, the thwarted man steps up his force still further in his effort to remove or even destroy the obstruction. It is precisely this mood that is called anger. Sometimes, however, the anger works beyond and out of proportion to the reason. When you allow such anger to function again and again it becomes a psychic disease.

Anger harms man long before it hurts the other person and anger has to be pre-empted. Wrong thoughts and evil deeds have their source and origin only in emotions. It would be clear that anger has to be neutralized at the source itself. When one trains them out of emotions one by one, spiritual progress will be steady and calmness would become an integral part of culture and personality.

Eradication of Worries

Worry is a kind of mental disease arising out of wrong calculations. The state of one’s inability to achieve the things desired or to estimate the consequence correctly and then lose one’s mental balance is worrying. Inefficiency and fear are the two main factors that give rise to worries. Worry wears down health. In its developed stage, life becomes a failure or a struggle in itself. Man has to eradicate such an evil from his mind.

The eradication of worries by a systematic practice is an Art of Life. It is an education for adults and also in an intrinsic need for a man of this Age. Problems are part of life. With patience and proper planning we should proceed to deal with the problems. As for problems that are not of our making, we should develop the skill to tackle them with clear thinking, free of emotion. Through mature wisdom, we can solve our problems successfully and tactfully.

Harmony in life

Harmony is a precious treasure of human life. Real success, satisfaction and happiness are but the different facets of harmony. If We are to enjoy the benefits of life to the full, it is necessary for us to develop and maintain harmony; and for this of course, understanding and practice are required. Harmony should be maintained in five aspects of life and these are:

  1. Between body and life

  2. Between wisdom and habits

  3. Between self and habits

  4. Between the purpose of life and the method of living; and

  5. Between Will and Nature
